Self Care for Mamas
“You need to learn to manage yourself first, in order to best care for your little one.”
The body goes through the most changes during pregnancy. Ligaments become lax, your emotions are high, your pelvis is expanding making way for baby to grow AND arrive! Self-care is vital during this time in your life. Creating a comfortable environment for yourself while focusing on taking care of your body during your pregnancy and afterwards are crucial for your emotional and physical wellbeing.
With each trimester, hormones get released and especially increase towards the end of your third trimester. This is when ligament laxity is at an all-time high, causing shifting/ expansion of your pelvis and pain/ discomfort in most women.
Did you know that there are specific chiropractic techniques used to restore balance in the pelvis during pregnancy?
Gentle adjustments and soft tissue work can improve the movement and function of the sacrum/pelvis. In turn, this can relieve tension off the ligaments and surrounding muscles to help you along the way!
Be sure to continue self-care even after baby arrives. You need to learn to manage yourself first, in order to best care for your little one. Self-care is a necessity, and finding balance as a mother is accepting that you are human and need a break at times.
I’ll end with this – you’ll never have all the answers, you may feel overwhelmed at times, but what matters is that you start somewhere.
Find your saving grace, create a wellness plan for yourself and allow your little one watch their mama kick butt. After all, no influence compares to that of a mother.
