ROME: Hidden Gem’s & Must Do’s🤍
My advice - you need a minimum of 3 nights. There is so much to see in beautiful Roma; the cobble stone paths, charming architecture, rich history. It is a lifestyle.
I would recommend staying in an Airbnb for part of your trip! Here is one we loved in the heart of Rome. Each Airbnb is so charming, you truly get a feel for how locals live. You’ll be lugging your luggage up four flights of tiny stairwells and fighting over who gets to sit in front of the fan in the room due to the lack of air conditioning 🤣. And staying in a hotel is also great because it feels nice to have your room tidied when you’re out and about – after all you’ll be living out of your luggage for 2 weeks.
Keep reading for our favourite spots that we discovered and think is worth while to share!
PREGO! (You’ll understand once you go to Italy).
ROME Must Do’s ✨:
1. Visit Campo De’ Fiori
2. Toss a coin over your left shoulder into the Trevi Fountain.
(legend has it, that if you throw a coin in Once, you will return to Rome in the future. Twice, you will fall in love with a local, and Three - you’ll marry that person🤍.
3. Book an unforgettable photoshoot with 'Photoshoot in Rome'
4. Download Rick Steves Audible Tours and listen while walking through the Pantheon and Vatican.
5. Ride electric scooters from Piazza Novana to Terrazza del Pincio and watch the sunset over Rome.
6. Visit several historical churches & fall in love with the architecture
Restaurants You Need to Try in ROME ✨:
Osteria de Fortunata
This is a MUST visit. You will be seated next to friendly locals making fresh pasta by hand and having a chef come out every 10 minutes to cook it for you. It is very hard to find ‘bad’ pasta in Italy, but this was by far our favourite one. They’re so popular that they are expanding into a 4th location this year!
Forno Monteforte
This café was filled with locals asking for a cappuccino every 2 minutes – that’s when you know it’s good! Have a fresh made pastry while you’re at it. You won’t regret it!
Enoteca Bortone
Ok now this was a true hidden gem. It was situated right below our Airbnb and looks like a hole in the wall. HOWEVER, you walk in and the walls are filled with wine from all over Italy. A Sommelier will choose wine for your palette while you sit on crates for chairs and use barrels for a table, watching vespa’s drive by on the cobblestone path beneath you. It can’t get any more Roman than this😍.
4. Casa & Bottega
There aren’t many “breakfast” places in Italy, considering a usual Italian breakfast consists of a brioche and cappuccino. However, this cafe is situated in an alleyway, opens early and serves quite a menu (you’ll know what I mean when you visit).
5. Market Cone
It is REALLY hard to find ‘bad’ gelato in Italy. This was one of our favourites In Rome.
6. La Carbonara
It’s in the name - they’re known for their carbonara pasta. You can’t go wrong with eating in the heart of Campo De Fiori. It came highly recommended amongst locals which is always a good sign that the food is good!
As always, grazie for reading.
