POSITANO (Amalfi): Hidden Gem’s & Must Do’s🤍
This was our next stop after Rome. You can take a fast train from Rome to Napoli and arrange for a private transfer to your stay in Positano. The train only takes 1.5 hrs from Rome - if you can squeeze in a trip to the Amalfi Coast, I HIGHLY recommend doing so.
I would recommend booking a private transfer with My Day Trip to get you from the Naples train station to the front door of your hotel. You can also add a stop at Pompeii on the way down for a few hours. We did this and really enjoyed learning about the history of Pompeii. We wandered the volcanic ruins for about 2 hours and then went back on route to Positano. The drivers from My Day Trip are professional, will stop at lookout points on the way and keep you away from some of the pick-pocketers that linger around the Napoli train station. We were going to take a bus from the train station which is an option, but there are delays, it is unsafe in my opinion and not as comfortable.
You need a minimum of 2-3 nights here. It truly is picturesque and photos simply do not do it justice.
PREGO!
POSITANO Must Do’s ✨:
1. Try a HUGO SPRITZ at The Mirage
This drink is almost impossible to find in Toronto. There is apparently only one place in Toronto that sells them, unless you ask the restaurant to make it for you. Spritz are a staple in Italy, I can almost guarantee that you’ll enjoy anyone you try. We tried Hugo Spritz at many places in Italy, and this place had the best one hands down!
2. Take a day trip to CAPRI✨through a private boat tour.
This is an ABSOLUTE MUST when visiting anywhere in the Amalfi Coast. It is very easy to arrange for a boat tour to Capri from either Sorrento, Positano or Amalfi. You can take a ferry down as well - however it gets very crowded and you won’t get the personalized tour along the way. We booked our Capri Boat Tour through Airbnb. *Bonus✨: When you get to Capri, eat at Ristorante Ciro A Mare for a gorgeous view overlooking the sea and with a view of fisherman below, catching fresh seafood🤍. The beaches here are small but absolutely stunning. You will not regret visiting Capri!
Legend has it - that if you kiss your partner under the Faraglioni, that you will have good luck and be together forever🤍
3. Book a FIAT PHOTO TOUR with Positano Dolce Vita
We got picked up in a vintage Fiat 500 🚗 by Andrea and we had the best time! We drove up the coast of Amalfi and he stopped at various look off points where we enjoyed the view and he snapped some photos of us. He offers pick up/ drop off from Sorrento, Positano or Amalfi which is great. You really get to discover how beautiful the coast really is with this tour!
*Bonus✨: When you go to Amalfi, visit Stefania Shoes Amalfi to get custom made Italian leather sandals made. You get your initials stamped on your sandals at the end of it and you get to walk away with a little piece of Amalfi, anywhere you go.
4. Shop Francesca's Boutique for some handcrafted LINEN CLOTHING ✨.
Positano has the most irresistible linen clothing. You have to buy a piece of linen clothing when visiting! This little boutique is run by a family and they had the most beautiful dresses I had seen along the whole strip.
5. Try authentic LIMONCELLO!🍋
Restaurants You Need to Try in POSITANO ✨:
Bruno Positano
The food, the views - you really can’t go wrong eating here😍.
Collina Bakery 🍨
Remember when I said it is really hard to find ‘bad gelato’ in Italy? Well this place in our opinion, had THE BEST GELATO on our entire trip. The dark chocolate gelato made us coming back sometimes twice a day while in Positano😅.
Da Costantino
We dined at this restaurant on our last night on the coast and my goodness it was worth it. This is a family owned establishment perched on top of the hill overlooking the coast. The views are simply stunning! A very special touch that they offer, is a free shuttle service to pick you up from your stay in Positano and and drop you back off once you’re finished your meal. This is truly a hidden gem💎.
4. Franco's Bar 🍸
This is an upscale bar you go to for aperitifs and drinks offering an extensive view of the sea. It definitely screams Miami vibes.
As always, grazie for reading.
